Bowfishing Lights
Bowfishing has never been more simple to set up for than with Black Oak LED's Bowfishing Kits. We have custom created packages that will allow you to bolt an insane amount of lighting to your boat and get out on the water fast.
LED Lights for Bowfishing
There are two kinds of lights usually used for bowfishing:
- High pressure sodium (HPS) lights
- LED lighting
HPS lights can be very effective, especially with how their warm yellow light cuts through murky water. But they come at a cost in weight, reliability, and warm up time.
An LED light pod or light bars can be a much better choice for bowfishing because they are more reliable, switch on and off instantly, and use much less power. The lumen output of LED lights is very high - about 70-80x their wattage. So a 12W LED pod light can provide about 1,200 lumens and our big 20" light bar with 5W Osram bulbs uses 200W to pump out 22,000 lumens. Visibility in muddy and clear water will not be a problem.
Which Colors are Best for Bowfishing Lights?
While lumen output is important, you want an LED light that suits the water you are in. A cool white LED, which is very common, may not penetrate as far as a warm white light. That's why we offer lights in almost every color. You can put together a complete kit, even using different colors, to optimize your boat for your waters.
How to Set Up for Fishing with LED Light Bars and Light Pods
We have the ability to create our lights with many different color temperatures from crisp white to warm yellow or even amber LEDs, we will have the perfect lights for whatever type of water you fish.
Along with our customizable color temperatures, we also have a full line of power converters that will allow you to run your Bowfishing Lights off of a generator on your boat. Utilizing generator powered LED lights allows you to save your starting battery for your motor, and allows you to run more lighting due to LEDs lower amperage draw.
Here's what a typical boat setup looks like for night fishing:
-
Almost all setups include bow lights. On a small boat, like a jon boat, a single light bar mounted at the bow might be bright enough to shoot all night.
-
Larger boats and bigger setups use light bars along the sides of the boat as well. When you install these, the light from all directions reduces shadows, making archers more accurate.
-
LED pods are a great addition to your kit. They really suit archers who target specific areas or those needed more flexibility. Our clamp-on lights are designed to go anywhere on your boat.
-
We also sell underwater lights. Our Fathom series is perfect for a permanent installation that is ideal for all types of bowfishing.
